The BMW 2002 (E10 chassis from 1968-1976) is one of the most iconic driver-focused chassis ever built. Light, balanced, and honest. But the factory powerplants are showing their age, and rebuilding them properly is neither cheap nor simple anymore.

That’s where the Honda K-series comes in.

The 22RPD K-Swap Kit is designed to integrate a modern Honda K-series engine into the BMW 2002 chassis without sacrificing the character of the car. This kit is a carefully engineered system that retains the factory driveline feel while delivering modern reliability and real performance.

This kit allows you to retain the factory BMW 2002 transmission, driveshaft, shift linkage, slave cylinder, and pressure plate, resulting in a swap that feels OEM in operation, simplifies the swap complexity, but completely transforms the driving experience.

In a 2002, the K-series shines. This is a four-cylinder chassis, and keeping it a four-cylinder preserves the balance and character that makes the car special. You get modern Honda reliability, a lightweight drivetrain, and a powerband that feels alive — all in a package that fits cleanly in the engine bay and remains easy to live with.

With 200+ wheel horsepower readily achievable in naturally aspirated form, the result is a fast, responsive, and extremely well-balanced 2002 that you can confidently drive, track, and maintain.

What Makes Our Kit Different

We focused on integration, not convenience shortcuts.

The 22RPD K-Swap 2002 Kit is designed around keeping as much of the factory BMW driveline intact as possible. By retaining the original transmission and related components, the car maintains its OEM shift feel, driveline geometry, and serviceability.

This kit is designed to:

• Retain factory BMW 2002 transmissions (4-speed and 5-speed)

• Retain the factory driveshaft

• Retain the factory shift linkage and slave cylinder

• Retain standard BMW pressure plate options

We are also releasing in-house machined flywheels, featuring:

• Standard 228mm pressure plate compatibility

• A billet aluminum flywheel body

• A replaceable steel wear surface

• Fully rebuildable design for long-term serviceability

Everything we offer in this system is designed and manufactured in the USA.

Available Configurations

The K-Swap 2002 system is available in multiple configurations depending on how complete of a solution you want:

• Engine arms only

• Engine arms + transmission adapter + flywheel

• Complete drop-in package
  (engine arms, transmission adapter, flywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate)

Some installation and fabrication effort is required. This kit is intended for enthusiasts and shops who value doing things correctly over cutting corners. Professional installation is recommended.

Future Development: Equal-Length Headers

If demand is there, we are open to producing equal-length 4-into-1 headers specifically designed for the factory K-swap 2002 configuration. Proper header development requires dedicated fixturing and validation, so we would need a minimum of five committed customers to move forward.
