Tune Option Glossary

Tune Glossary

This glossary defines common tune packages, delivery methods, and configurable options. Availability varies by ECU, platform, and vehicle configuration.

Tune Delivery Options

Chip Mail — Applicable to older ECUs with removable EPROM chips. A pre-programmed chip is mailed to you for installation. Typical installation time is ~30 minutes. Revisions are delivered via mailed replacement chips.

ECU Exchange — You mail your ECU to us. We flash it with your calibration and return it. Typical turnaround is 1–2 business days plus shipping time.

Pre-Flashed ECU — We provide a flashed ECU loaded with your tune. Generally plug-and-play, requiring an ECU swap.

In-Person Tune — Bring your vehicle to our facility. ECU flashing is performed on-site. Optional dyno tuning and before/after comparisons may be available.

Remote Tune — We provide flashing hardware and software so your ECU can be tuned remotely. Requires a Windows laptop and internet connection. Full instructions are included. Once reads are submitted, tuning work is handled by our engineers.

Third-Party Software — Uses an external flashing platform. A separate license may be required. We provide calibration support, but platform-specific issues may require support from the software vendor.

Tune Options

These configurable options allow customization of the tune package to your specific needs.

Exhaust & Sound

Pops & Bangs — Choose from Burble (quieter, more frequent), Gunshot (louder, less frequent), or Flame (loud with occasional flames on deceleration). Results depend heavily on the exhaust setup and may reduce catalytic converter lifespan.

Ghost Cam — Simulates a cammed idle sound. No power gain—purely for fun.

GTS Startup — Adds an aggressive cold-start roar inspired by the M4 GTS.

Fuel & Load Strategy

MAF Delete (Alpha-N) — Removes the MAF from load calculation. Recommended only when required (ITBs, CSL boxes, certain intake setups).

Injector Upgrade — Select this option if injector size differs from stock and must be accounted for in calibration.

E85 Conversion — Converts the calibration to run ethanol. Typically requires upgraded injectors (S65 or 60# common). This is not a flex fuel tune; it is calibrated for a specific ethanol blend (E30, E50, etc.).

TMAP Upgrade — Select this option if you are swapping to a non-factory pressure sensor.

Engine & Drivetrain

Camshaft Upgrade — Select this option if tuning is needed for upgraded camshafts.

Rev Limiter Adjustment — Raises or modifies the factory rev limit within safe operating constraints.

Hard Cut Limiter — Replaces the soft limiter with an aggressive fuel cut at the limit. Changes the sound and behavior at redline.

LWFW Idle Bump — Raises idle speed to improve drivability with lightweight flywheels.

Launch Control — Adds launch control. Default launch RPM is 3500 unless otherwise specified. Typically requires functional wheel speed/differential sensors.

Left Foot Braking (LFB) — Enables brake input without throttle cut. Commonly used for drifting or turbo applications.

Vehicle Systems & Logic

Swap Logic / Module Adjustments — Enables or disables ECU functions required for swap configurations, including module changes as needed.

EWS Delete — Disables EWS immobilizer. Required for most swaps. Not recommended for factory vehicles unless necessary.

Swap Tune — Designed for engine or chassis conversions and includes logic changes required for non-factory configurations. This may include EWS delete, module changes, sensor logic adjustments, and fault/readiness handling required for swap operation. Swap Tunes are intended to make the ECU function correctly in its new environment—not simply to suppress faults.

DTC Removal — Removes specific error codes, primarily for swap-related issues. Not recommended for functional sensor deletion.

SAP Delete — Removes Secondary Air Pump logic. This may disable emissions readiness and is not emissions compliant.

Hot / Cold Start Fix — Adjusts startup behavior for temperature-related drivability issues.

Driver Interface

Shift Lights — Enables or adjusts shift light behavior.

Sport Button — Alters sport mode behavior (throttle response / mode behavior where supported).

Performance Gauge Correction — Recalibrates BMW performance gauges for modified setups.

Top Speed Limiter Removal — Removes the factory top speed limiter where supported.

Transmission Tune — Coordinates ECU and transmission calibration where supported.

Additional Maps

Extra Map(s) — Adds alternate configurations (fuel type, sound profile, rev limit, etc.), where supported.
