Tune Option Glossary

Stage 1 Tune - Our stage one tunes set out to maximize the power, refine the smoothness, and provide ultimate responsiveness of the engine at all operating conditions. Stage 1 tunes are designed to be used with mild engine modifications, but require no modifications to operate effectively. Our stage 1 tunes open the door for personalization and customization. No “cookie-cutter” or “Off-the-shelf” tunes here! Build your personalized tune with the stage 1 tune options below!

Stage 2 Tune - Our stage 2 tuning packages improve upon everything provided in the stage 1 tuning packages, but these packages provide fine-tuned calibrations for specific hardware. These tunes maximize the performance of the engine in most applications, and are built to provide substantial gains above what the stage 1 provides. You’ll find these packages have bundled and preselected hardware that is marked as required. These products are required to meet the descried power potential.

Stage 2+ Tune- You’ll find under certain categories we offer a stage 2+ tune. This package has further recommended hardware above the stage 2 tune to meet either reliability or performance as described.

Tune Delivery option - Tunes can be provided or delivered through many means. When you purchase your tune you can select how you will receive you product. See the section below for a description of each option.

Possible Delivery Options:

Chip Mail - This Tune delivery option is specifically applicable to older design ecu’s. These ecus contain removable flash memory or “chip” which is directly replaced by an upgraded chip with performance software pre-installed. These replacement chips will need to be installed by the end user. Instructions are included, and this operation generally takes approximately 30 minutes. Tune revisions with this delivery option are delivered through the mail.

Ecu Exchange - This Tune delivery option requires removal and mailing of your ecu to us. We will upgrade the software on your ecu to our performance calibration and return the ecu back to you via priority mail. The process takes 1-2 days plus mail.

In-Person Tune - This Tune delivery option requires bringing your vehicle to our facilities. Once on site, we will take your car and upgrade your ecus with our software. While on site we can provide dyno comparisons and specific dyno tuning.

Pre-Flashed Ecu- This Tune delivery option we flash an ECU with our performance software and mail the ecu to you. With this option the ecu is generally plug and play requiring only swapping of the unit.

Remote Tune - With this Tune delivery option we mail hardware and provide tuning software to upgrade your Ecu calibration to our performance calibration. Everything is generally handled by our engineers requiring only an internet connection and a windows laptop. Complete instructions will be included with your tune package.

Third Party Software - This Tune delivery option utilizes third party software to update your ecus software. With this option you may be required to purchase a license to use this software independent of the tune package. We will provide general support to use this software, but you may need to work with the third party vendor for specific support.

Tune options These configurable options allow customization of the tune package to your specific needs. Below we describe each option.

Add Burble, Crackle, and Flames – This option, when available, provides audible pops and crackles under engine deceleration. This acoustic performance is heavily dependent on the installed exhaust. In some cases this can be harmful to the engine and or catalytic converters.

Alpha-N – This option, in general, removes the MAF from the operating calculations. In general is used with intake stacks or intake boxes. In some cases it can provide higher performance but in general this should only be selected when absolutely necessary as it can exhibit rough running conditions in situations where the ecu doesn’t have enough information to perform better.

Camshaft Upgrade- Select this option if you are looking to have us tune for upgraded camshafts.

E85 Conversion – Select this option if you are looking to convert your car to run on ethanol. Different injectors will be necessary in most circumstances.

EWS Delete – Select this option if you are looking for us to delete ews. You will need this for swap tunes. In general its best practice to leave this functional unless specifically needed.

Hot or Cold Start Fix – Select this option if you are looking to have us adjust your operating conditions in either hot or colder operating conditions.

Injector Upgrade – Select this option if you have swapped to different injectors and want this considered in the tune.

Launch Control – Select this option if you are looking to have us implement launch control. Unless specifically stated, launch RPM is 3500, and is activated when wheel speed is at 0. You will generally need working wheel speed and diff sensors for this option.

LWFW Idle Bump – Select this option if you have installed a light weight flywheel and want us to bump the idle to smooth out idle noise.

Maf Upgrade – Select this option if you have swapped to a different MAF than factory.

Performance Gauge Correction – Select this option if you are looking for us to match your BMW Performance gauges to the new tuned parameters.

Rev Limiter Adjustment – Select this option if you are looking to have us move the rev limit up.

SAP Delete – Select this option if you are looking to remove the SAP (Secondary Air Pump). This will remove the check engine lights but will invalidate your emissions readiness.

Shift Lights – Select this option if you are looking to have us enable shift lights or adjust shift lights.

Sport Button – Select this option if you are looking to have the functionality of your sport button altered.

Supercharged – Select this option if you are looking to have the tune adjusted for this option.

TMAP Upgrade – Select this option if you are looking to swap out your TMAP for a different version.

Top Speed Limiter Delete – Select this option if you are looking to have your top speed limiter deleted.

Transmission Tune – Select this option if you are looking to have your transmission tuned in conjunction with your ecu.

Turbocharged – Select this option if you are looking to have the tune adjusted for this option.

Hard Cut Limiter – Cuts the fuel at the set RPM limit. This changes how the engine behaves and changes the sound of the vehicle at the RPM limit. With the manufacturer standard RPM limit, a diesel car will hit the limit and will stay at the exact point until the driver takes his foot off the gas pedal.
